Why this works in the OC: First of all I can’t get enough of blogger Modern Ensemble. Jen is a master of translating the hottest fashion trends and style stables into her own daily modern ensembles, which is why OCSR loves her blog. Plus Jen is the sweetest person EVER!

Ok back to the outfit…. Transitioning into the fall for most Southern California women is a love hate thing. We love new trends and are ready to rock fall fashion, but it’s HOT HOT HOT outside and we hate that we can’t wear our fall fashion-all the while secretly not wanting summer to ever end. We’re such a handful-Right? That’s where mastering the art of the seasonal transition is so important. The key to mastering the look is balancing items from both seasons. Jen’s look is a great example. She took chic summery romper and paired it back to a light weight jacket and close toe flats. Color, texture and accessories are important components to making transitional looks work.  A good starting point is to use a traditionally fall color palate in lightweight fabrics and layering these elements together-this work for both fashion and function. Another key element is changing your sandals to close toe shoes. These basic principals will help get you started on your own fall transition.

Hair & Makeup: Like I always say, “know where you’re going”. This makes all the difference in the world when it comes to choosing the right combination of hair & makeup. It’s important to have different makeup looks for different occasions, and if you don’t it time to figure out at least 2 or 3 different hair and make up looks that work in your lifestyle.

Every woman needs to have a good natural look-this doesn’t mean do nothing to yourself. Simply highlight your natural features. Natural hair & makeup are a great for daytime looks-work or weekend. Plus we all need an easy 5 minute undo. Don’t forget ladies we also need a killer look for evening and events, again this doesn’t mean you look has to be over-the-top. A darker version of your natural look with some added eyeliner would work perfectly.
