Designer Spotlight | Maison du Soir

Why We ♥ Maison du Soir

I mean, who wouldn’t love a luxury sleepwear line that you can incorporate into your daytime wardrobe? Maison du Soir is another local line we happened upon at Bardot. We loved the idea that these super soft, super cute PJ’s could be worn not only to sleep in but out on the town as well… Think of it as an addition to your basics. Courtney, the woman behind Maison du Soir, believes that “the transition from day to night and night to day should be seamless, that sleepwear should echo your daywear style and that always wearing beautiful will make you feel beautiful.” … We couldn’t agree more!

Maison du Soir‘s new collection just launched on Monday and we couldn’t wait to share it with you! Get to know a little more about Courtney and Maison du Soir, and don’t forget to SHOP the new collection!

How long have you been designing/making clothing and at what point did you decide to make it your career?

I was in the apparel merchandising and design field for 10 years prior to starting Maison Du Soir. It was my last couple years developing new brands for the corporation I worked for that I learned quite a bit and decided to branch off on my own.

It was after I purchased my first set of quality sleepwear, that my obsession began.  When I slipped on that first set, I looked better which made me feel better and consequently helped me sleep better. After a mad search for more sleepwear sets, I realized there was not much out there that I really liked. I’m not a lace and bows girl and most of the classic sets that are somewhat affordable have wide legs and boxy tops. Being in the fashion industry, I didn’t understand why it seemed the sleepwear market wasn’t paying attention to our changing needs and trends. Everything seemed dated, cheesy, boxy or covered in kitty cats and ice cream cone prints. My mind became flooded with ideas of cuter, more flattering lines and silhouettes…pondering the question ”what does the cool chick sleep in?”

What is the inspiration behind your designs?/What inspired your most recent collection?

I describe Maison Du Soir simply as Understated Sexy.  It is fashionably relevant and chic, playing off the contrast of modern and feminine.  It’s inspired by relevant daywear fashion.  I use seasonal colors and textures, just as ready-to-wear collections do.  I believe sleepwear can be fashionable and classic.  It shouldn’t remain the same season after season.

The Spring Summer 2016 Collection is delicate and feminine. White gauze meets navy silk. Rose pinks are complimented by chic French mini stripes, while interesting textures, buttery soft hand feel and flattering silhouettes continue to play a leading role.

How did you decide on Maison du Soir as the name of the brand?

The word “Maison” (house) is an ode to the European fashion houses . I loved that “Soir” which translates to “evening” is the root of soirée meaning an evening party. And so Maison Du Soir (House of Evening) came to be!  It’s a European inspired, USA made collection.

How would you describe your personal style?

I’m drawn to juxtaposition.  You can often find me mixing a simple white tee with edgy avant gaurde jewelry or a leather jacket with a gauzey dress.

What Maison du Soir piece do you find yourself wearing the most?

I’m wearing the Madrid leggings as I write this but the Greta long sleeve or Petunia tank are my favorites, as they cross over to mix and match with my daywear style so well.

What’s next for Maison du Soir?

International business expansion is next!  I’ve been waiting to break into the European markets but wanted the timing to be right.  This year, we are ready.
